Alessandria FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberigo Cicchetti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Andrea Iacomini put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Carter Corvi. Corrado Ricciuti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th minute Corrado Ricciuti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fulvio Maurizi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Corrado Ricciuti was the one to do the kick off. Alfonso De Bettin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carter Corvi having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of Alessandria FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cafaggio:s goal. In the 56th minute there was a penalty for Cafaggio. Cristiano Di Tommaso stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Carter Corvi. 2-0. A collision led to Alessandria FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Ferruccio Boldrini hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfonso De Bettin in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carter Corvi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Andrea Iacomini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fulvio Maurizi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberigo Cicchetti in the 74th minute. Fulvio Maurizi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corrado Ricciuti in the 76th minute of play. Carter Corvi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andrea Iacomini's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. When Alfonso De Bettin came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Cafaggio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfonso De Bettin couldn't finish the play. Carter Corvi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrea Iacomini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 86 minutes into the match, Andrea Iacomini had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carter Corvi. Alessandria FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andrea Iacomini was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Andrea Iacomini struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Carter Corvi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cafaggio. In the 95th minute, Andrea Iacomini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Andrea Iacomini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alessandria FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
