Sampdoria's goal looked a bit too open when Gerhard Martin Geldreich came free, but Bogumil Wieloch reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gerhard Martin Geldreich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Bogumil Wieloch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emilio Caniglia was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Gerhard Martin Geldreich reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bogumil Wieloch. The goal made the score 0-3. Fortunato Froněk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Bogumil Wieloch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emilio Caniglia got free with Bogumil Wieloch in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. U.C. Sampdoria's Bogumil Wieloch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerhard Martin Geldreich in the 60th minute of play. Bruno Zollino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristiano Piretti in the 73rd minute of play. In the 77th minute, Ercole Salvadore made a precise shot to the right of Bogumil Wieloch. U.C. Sampdoria's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. In the 81st minute Gerhard Martin Geldreich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bogumil Wieloch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bogumil Wieloch was a little too slow when Fortunato Froněk got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 83rd minute. The score was now 0-6. FC Rhodense's Emilio Caniglia got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. FC Rhodense played a much better game than U.C. Sampdoria and deserved their victory. The U.C. Sampdoria players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
