Ciccio Lo Iacono ran back to his position shaking his head. Fabrizio Cilli hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Matei FC's Carmine Donato got control of the ball when Alberigo Taurino tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 33rd minute Ciccio Lo Iacono shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carmine Donato saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matei FC's Carmine Donato proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Matei FC from getting a goal against them. Carmine Donato made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Alberigo Taurino sent off a good shot on target. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ciccio Lo Iacono to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuele Farese got free with Augusto Bonfigli in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 57 minutes, Ciccio Lo Iacono mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the USD Cavese and the Matei FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, USD Cavese's Ciccio Lo Iacono got a free kick in the 57th minute. USD Cavese were furious when Emilio Di Nucci was red carded, 59 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Corrado Oberrauch walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Camillo Orsi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Augusto Bonfigli made a huge save. If Damiano Boninsegna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Augusto Bonfigli made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Camillo Orsi sent off a good shot on target. USD Cavese's Augusto Bonfigli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damiano Boninsegna in the 72nd minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Camillo Orsi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Augusto Bonfigli. USD Cavese's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Camillo Orsi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. USD Cavese succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Matei FC had controlled the match.
