An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Chitarroni in the 20th minute of play forced Solarolo's goalkeeper Bianco Curti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alberigo Bonsignore charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberigo Bonsignore the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Palermo booed when Solarolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberigo Bonsignore didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd minute, Palermo's Augusto Di Liddo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Bianco Curti. Bianco Curti yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Alexander Pozzo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexander Pozzo got free with Bianco Curti in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Emanuele Campoli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberigo Bonsignore in the 33rd minute of the match. Palermo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aurelio Chitarroni was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Solarolo's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Pozzo came free, but Bianco Curti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Augusto Di Liddo could shoot a difficult shot in the 39th minute, which Bianco Curti however easily saved by the left post. Augusto Nardone kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniele Fulgenzi was the one to do the kick off. Emanuele Campoli made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Ennio Facchetti sent off a good shot on target. In the 52nd minute of the match, Daniele Fulgenzi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Emanuele Campoli saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After having played for 54 minutes, Augusto Di Liddo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bianco Curti was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 76th match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmondo Di Persio to maneuver through the defense. Palermo's Emanuele Campoli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Palermo from getting a goal against them. When Aurelio Chitarroni came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Palermo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aurelio Chitarroni couldn't finish the play. Bianco Curti came out of the goal and Aurelio Chitarroni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Augusto Di Liddo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There was no doubt that Palermo were the better team. Palermo's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
