But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fausto Improta couldn't finish the play. A collision led to FC Spadolini getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Adriano Scrima hit a great ball. Alberto Franco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Improta, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Amedeo Cicchetti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Alberto Franco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Montorio FC's Alberto Franco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Improta in the 24th minute of play. Alessandro De Amicis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristoforo Contestabile read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Vitelli in the 28th minute of play forced FC Spadolini's goalkeeper Cristoforo Contestabile to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Spadolini's Ennio Falcone got a free kick in the 28th minute. The Montorio FC fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Montorio FC's Adriano Vitelli looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Montorio FC's Alberto Franco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Improta in the 34th minute of play. Amedeo Cicchetti struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Alberto Franco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Spadolini. In the 39th match minute, Montorio FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ettore Di Massimo to maneuver through the defense. Alberto Franco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Improta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adriano Vitelli to make the kick off. Adriano Scrima kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 55th minute, Adriano Vitelli got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristoforo Contestabile showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adriano Vitelli in the 57th minute of the match. FC Spadolini's Cristoforo Contestabile proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save FC Spadolini from getting a goal against them. After 69 minutes, Edoardo Gelsomini mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montorio FC and the FC Spadolini players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 69 played minutes Montorio FC got a freekick which was hit by Edoardo Gelsomini. After 70 played minutes Montorio FC got a freekick which was hit by Aldo Lepre. Fausto Improta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the game, Ennio Falcone was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Spadolini's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montorio FC the free kick. Fausto Improta might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alberto Franco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fausto Improta ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amedeo Cicchetti in the 84th minute of play forced Montorio FC's goalkeeper Alberto Franco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Spadolini's Amedeo Cicchetti got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, FC Spadolini's Cristoforo Contestabile got control of the ball when Alessandro De Amicis tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Montorio FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Montorio FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
