The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4thth minute of the game Camillo Bassi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezia's Beppe Chiarelli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 13th minute Alessio Conforti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Felice saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Camillo Bassi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beppe Chiarelli having to interfere. Beppe Chiarelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Camillo Bassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. With his leg Beppe Chiarelli managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Zinola's Fabio Bosso fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Frank Guerra's late challenge caught a Zinola's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank Guerra helped the player get up and apologised. In the 32nd match minute, Venezia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Guerra to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, Alessio Conforti had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dennis Felice. Zinola's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alessio Conforti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 36 minutes into the game, Alessio Conforti was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zinola the free kick. Alessio Conforti hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Fabio Bosso kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 41stth minute. Though ot was a great shot Venezia's keeper Beppe Chiarelli was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ferdinando Tatangelo in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Beppe Chiarelli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Beppe Chiarelli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Camillo Bassi's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. In the 48th minute of the match, Camillo Bassi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Beppe Chiarelli saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Donato Malatesta was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Venezia's Alessio Conforti dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. 59 minutes into the match, Zinola's goalkeeper Dennis Felice had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alessio Conforti. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donato Malatesta in the 67th minute of play forced Zinola's goalkeeper Dennis Felice to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ferdinando Tatangelo in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Beppe Chiarelli saved Venezia from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Fabio Bosso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Beppe Chiarelli was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Alessio Conforti could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Dennis Felice made a huge save. In the 85th minute Camillo Bassi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beppe Chiarelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Fabio Bosso came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Zinola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabio Bosso couldn't finish the play. Dennis Felice showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Malatesta, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Ferdinando Tatangelo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Venezia's zone, Fabio Bosso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Beppe Chiarelli came out of the goal and Fabio Bosso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 97th minute, Camillo Bassi made a precise shot to the right of Beppe Chiarelli. Venezia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. Although Zinola had been in control for most of the match, Venezia still came away with the win.
