The supporters of AGF booed when Varsity Blues Velletri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eraldo La Marca didn't get a good kick on the ball. 6 minutes into the match, Dario Bracco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ferdinando Franceschelli. Varsity Blues Velletri's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dario Bracco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Ciccio Garibaldi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amerigo Galante in the 11th minute. Ferdinando Franceschelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave Piccirilli in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Amerigo Galante left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varsity Blues Velletri fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Ciccio Garibaldi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anselmo Passerini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ferdinando Franceschelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave Piccirilli in the 23rd minute of play. Dave Piccirilli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferdinando Franceschelli having to interfere. Ferdinando Franceschelli didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dave Piccirilli went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Ferdinando Franceschelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Piccirilli, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 35 minutes into the match, Varsity Blues Velletri's goal looked a bit too open when Francesco Di Monte came free, but Ferdinando Franceschelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ferdinando Franceschelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francesco Di Monte in the 43rd minute of play. The Varsity Blues Velletri players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. AGF were winning 1-3.

A wasted opportunity for AGF. 54 minutes into the game, Francesco Di Monte cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Ferdinando Franceschelli was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dario Bracco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Ferdinando Franceschelli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. AGF's Ciccio Garibaldi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eraldo La Marca in the 61st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dave Piccirilli got free with Ferdinando Franceschelli in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 64th minute Dario Bracco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinando Franceschelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dave Piccirilli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferdinando Franceschelli having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, AGF's Dave Piccirilli sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ferdinando Franceschelli narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francesco Di Monte in the 81st minute of play forced Varsity Blues Velletri's goalkeeper Ferdinando Franceschelli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 84 minutes, Dave Piccirilli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AGF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dave Piccirilli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dario Bracco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elia Vitale charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elia Vitale the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 89th match minute, AGF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elia Vitale to maneuver through the defense. When the match was over AGF could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Varsity Blues Velletri throughout the match.
