The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carmine Cericola hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. 4 minutes into the game, Aurelio Campana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Claudio Doris was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alberto Briganti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emilio Minotti got free with Bruno Luciani in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Emilio Minotti took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bruno Luciani. Bruno Luciani dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Alberto Briganti managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leonardo's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Briganti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruno Luciani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 29th minute, Alberto Briganti reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bruno Luciani. The goal made the score 3-1. Alberto Cherubini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Aurelio Campana managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atletico Milazzo's supporters rose to their feet, but Aurelio Campana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Claudio Doris breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 39 played minutes Leonardo got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Magno. In the 41st minute, Aurelio Campana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aurelio Campana was the one to do the kick off. Bruno Luciani stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alberto Briganti's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Emilio Minotti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Luciani having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Alberto Briganti managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leonardo's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Briganti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruno Luciani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Alberto Briganti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. In the 68thth minute of the game Alberto Briganti who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atletico Milazzo's Bruno Luciani was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 70 minutes Atletico Milazzo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fulvio Sciarra who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Leonardo's Fulvio Sciarra to fire away a dangerous shot which Bruno Luciani despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aurelio Campana got free with Claudio Doris in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Aurelio Campana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aurelio Campana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ernesto Magno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bruno Luciani came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Leonardo's Alberto Briganti. But to his dismay, Alberto Briganti quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. 95 minutes into the match, Atletico Milazzo's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Briganti came free, but Bruno Luciani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Leonardo getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Ernesto Magno hit a great ball. Leonardo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
