The crowd rose to their feet as Ceresāo's Changeez Zeballos slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ermanno Di Natale. That made the score 1-0 after 4 minutes of play. After 16 minutes of play, FC SPORTING GENZANO's Fabio Barberio made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emanuele Aversano was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 19th minute Fabio Barberio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuele Aversano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ceresāo's Emanuele Aversano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Barberio in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Alessandro Mastrocola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuele Aversano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emanuele Aversano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Cavallucci, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Ronny Eliasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 27 minutes into the game, Cosimo Cosi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ceresāo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC SPORTING GENZANO the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ceresāo's Cosimo Cosi got a free kick in the 27th minute. A very good chance. 34 minutes into the match, FC SPORTING GENZANO's Alfredo Cavallucci sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emanuele Aversano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Changeez Zeballos struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Ermanno Di Natale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ceresāo. Fabio Barberio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuele Aversano having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Fabio Barberio managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC SPORTING GENZANO's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabio Barberio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuele Aversano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of FC SPORTING GENZANO booed when Ceresāo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Della Rocca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Davide Lucidi made in the 72nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Ceresāo's Donato Della Rocca. In the 74th match minute, Ceresāo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donato Della Rocca to maneuver through the defense.
