Onychogomphus FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cosimo Bosco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Demetrio Corleone in the 31st minute of play forced Reggina Calcio's goalkeeper Ercole Serantoni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dan Lund hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After 44 played minutes Reggina Calcio got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Serra. Beppe Vitullo made in the 46th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Barnaba Naskrent. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Demetrio Corleone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ercole Serantoni made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Emiliano Cancemi sent off a good shot on target. Armando Di Marino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ercole Serantoni having to interfere. Beppe Vitullo charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Beppe Vitullo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 65 played minutes Reggina Calcio got a freekick which was hit by Beppe Vitullo. In the 66th minute of the match, Armando Di Marino got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ercole Serantoni was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ercole Serantoni, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Beppe Vitullo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 71 minutes had been played. In the 77th match minute, Reggina Calcio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barnaba Naskrent to maneuver through the defense. Ercole Serantoni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cosimo Bosco in the 86th minute of the match. With a little luck, Reggina Calcio's Ercole Serantoni got control of the ball when Armando Di Marino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pavel Tyulenev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Fabrizio Mariano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
