Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adriano Lucidi in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cristiano Goffredo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Comunardo De Marchi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Dino Travaglini fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sorbo's protests and gave Dino Travaglini a yellow card for diving instead. Beppe Di Fazio struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Beppe Di Fazio got free with Cristiano Goffredo in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sorbo's defense didn't have a chance, in the 37th minute, when Adriano Lucidi scored to the left of an out of position Cristiano Goffredo, making the score, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Comunardo De Marchi in the 42nd minute of play forced Budrione's goalkeeper Comunardo Melone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ercole Ferraresi came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Sorbo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ercole Ferraresi couldn't finish the play. In the 44th match minute, Budrione was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dave Pasquale to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adriano Lucidi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Comunardo De Marchi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Budrione booed when Sorbo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arrigo Di Bartolo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sorbo's Cristiano Goffredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano Lucidi in the 69th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Comunardo De Marchi in the 77th minute of play forced Budrione's goalkeeper Comunardo Melone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 78 played minutes Budrione got a freekick which was hit by Dave Pasquale. Budrione's Comunardo Melone proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Budrione from getting a goal against them. If Beppe Di Fazio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Ercole Ferraresi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sorbo's supporters rose to their feet, but Ercole Ferraresi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Comunardo Melone breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Budrione's Biagio Cattaneo got a free kick in the 85th minute. The attack was good, but when Ercole Ferraresi in the 88th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Comunardo Melone was out of position in the 90 minute of play, and Ercole Ferraresi capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ercole Ferraresi really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. The Sorbo players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Budrione from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
