Herta Vernello's supporters crossed their fingers, but Huben Vechev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Herta Vernello were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aldo Ascani made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Huben Vechev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudio Melani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Herta Vernello getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Dennis Urbani hit a great ball. 61 minutes into the match, Damiano Picca notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Casalingaperfetta's Claudio Melani. Fabrizio Ricci was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Herta Vernello's Fulvio Donadoni was substituted for Damiano Picca. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Claudio Melani successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With a little luck, Casalingaperfetta's Claudio Melani got control of the ball when Fulvio Donadoni tried to sneak it across the goal line.
