After some careless play in the Bologna defense, Ercole Marcon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ermanno Rea. The Bologna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ermanno Rea should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ercole Marcon in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ermanno Rea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ermanno Rea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ercole Marcon's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. 11 minutes into the game, Atletico Van Goof's Ercole Marcon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ermanno Rea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. If Ercole Marcon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Emanuele Cagnetta fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bologna's protests and gave Emanuele Cagnetta a yellow card for diving instead. Emanuele Cagnetta kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Ercole Marcon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Ermanno Rea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ercole Marcon hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. During the 28th minute of the match Emanuele Cagnetta completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Emanuele Cagnetta a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Emanuele Cagnetta hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After having played for 30 minutes, Franciszek Cupial managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atletico Van Goof's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franciszek Cupial was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Damiano Iachini struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Ermanno Rea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Van Goof. Augusto De Rossi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Alberto Di Placido made a huge save. Ermanno Rea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ercole Marcon, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. 44 minutes into the game, Alfonso Coco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bologna's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atletico Van Goof the free kick. After a rather tough play, Bologna's Alfonso Coco got a free kick in the 44th minute. Ermanno Rea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Franciszek Cupial's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. After the first half Atletico Van Goof were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Augusto De Rossi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ercole Marcon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Ermanno Rea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Bologna getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Fausto Meazza hit a great ball. In the 58thth minute of the game Ercole Marcon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bologna's Ermanno Rea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fausto Meazza got his second yellow card in the match during the 59th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Atletico Van Goof made a substitution. Safy Belfaa replaced Bruno Del Pizzo. After having played for 62 minutes, Ercole Marcon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ermanno Rea showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 0-3 became the score in the 69th minute when Ercole Marcon elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Bologna's Alfonso Coco got his second yellow card of the match in the 78th minute. The referee ordered Alfonso Coco off the ground. After 79 played minutes Bologna got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Coco. In the 83rdth minute of the game Ercole Marcon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bologna's Ermanno Rea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Bologna's goal looked a bit too open when Ercole Marcon came free, but Ermanno Rea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Atletico Van Goof left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Bologna.
