The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Lupiae Salento's zone, Cosimo Festuccia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Bussi came out of the goal and Cosimo Festuccia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 6th play minutes Frank Moscatelli shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Ernesto Bussi and just under the crossbar into goal. Ernesto Bussi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cosimo Festuccia, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 14th minute, Alvise Schiacciacasse hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frank Moscatelli might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernesto Bussi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frank Moscatelli ran back to his position shaking his head. 22 minutes into the match, Lupiae Salento's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Moscatelli came free, but Ernesto Bussi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Gom Gom FC's Frank Moscatelli slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ernesto Bussi. That made the score 4-0 after 25 minutes of play. Frank Moscatelli came free with the goalkeeper in the 31st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ernesto Bussi could save by the left post. Gom Gom FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cesare Matteucci in the 32nd minute. A nice corner shot did that Cesare Matteucci got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ernesto Bussi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 34 minutes into the game, Frank Moscatelli lined in a short shot 5-0 behind a frustrated Ernesto Bussi. The supporters of Gom Gom FC booed when Lupiae Salento was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anselmo Antonangeli didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 37 played minutes, Gom Gom FC's Cesare Matteucci shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ernesto Bussi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gom Gom FC reached it. A collision led to Gom Gom FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Emiliano Minichiello hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fabio Mandelli to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Frank Moscatelli's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Bussi was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. In the 56th minute of the match Gom Gom FC got a corner. Lupiae Salento's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cesare Matteucci ran over to the corner to take the kick. Lupiae Salento's Ernesto Bussi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Moscatelli in the 60th minute of play. The Gom Gom FC fans' excitement grew in the 63rd match minute when Gom Gom FC's Frank Moscatelli looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 8-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Gom Gom FC made a substitution. Cristiano Alessandrini replaced Flavio Antognoni. Frank Moscatelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Lupiae Salento defense, Frank Moscatelli kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernesto Bussi. The Lupiae Salento fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernesto Bussi should have stopped the shot. Gom Gom FC made a substitution. Cristoforo Epifani replaced Cosimo Festuccia. 75 minutes into the match, Lupiae Salento's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Moscatelli came free, but Ernesto Bussi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ettore Gabriele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gom Gom FC's Frank Moscatelli in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ernesto Bussi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee felt a red card was in order, 94 minutes into the game, when Ferruccio Damiani put in a rough tackle. After 96 minutes, Eraldo Fortuna mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lupiae Salento and the Gom Gom FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 96 played minutes Lupiae Salento got a freekick which was hit by Eraldo Fortuna. Gom Gom FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
