Árpád Makkai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vilmos Ludas, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. When László Gulyás fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U Cluj-Napoca's protests and gave László Gulyás a yellow card for diving instead. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Róbert László came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the dg united fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Róbert László couldn't finish the play. Aurél Czene's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alfréd Bodó read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Vilmos Ludas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Árpád Makkai tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 22 minutes, Róbert László mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the dg united and the U Cluj-Napoca players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alfréd Bodó breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, dg united's Dávid Sámuel got a free kick in the 40th minute.
