The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Viktor Zádori fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zsolt Gál having to interfere. Zsolt Gál made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Viktor Zádori sent off a good shot on target. Kristóf Angyal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 12th minute, Diósgyőri VTK's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kristóf Angyal fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 14 minutes into the match, Sporting Vasszentmihály's Viktor Zádori sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zsolt Gál narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Diósgyőri VTK getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Örs Kántor hit a great ball. When Viktor Zádori came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Sporting Vasszentmihály fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Viktor Zádori couldn't finish the play. Zsolt Gál showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kristóf Angyal in the 23rd minute of the match. Diósgyőri VTK's Zsolt Gál proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Diósgyőri VTK from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kristóf Angyal in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zsolt Gál saved Diósgyőri VTK from getting behind. In the 31st match minute, Diósgyőri VTK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Csaba Nagy to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Zsolt Gál managed to avoid a goal in the 38thth minute, when Sporting Vasszentmihály's Viktor Zádori fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Kristóf Angyal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Vasszentmihály's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristóf Angyal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zsolt Gál breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Diósgyőri VTK's zone, Viktor Zádori stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zsolt Gál came out of the goal and Viktor Zádori tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 44 minutes into the match, Diósgyőri VTK's goal looked a bit too open when Kristóf Angyal came free, but Zsolt Gál reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Kristóf Angyal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kristóf Angyal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zsolt Gál showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tibor Vass in the 53rd minute of the match. 53 minutes into the match, Tibor Vass had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zsolt Gál. Diósgyőri VTK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tibor Vass was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Zsolt Gál made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kristóf Angyal in the 56th minute of play. Zsolt Gál took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kristóf Angyal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mátyás Csikós took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 60th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Zsolt Gál. Diósgyőri VTK's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Diósgyőri VTK's Zsolt Gál played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tibor Vass in the 61st minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Diósgyőri VTK fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 64th minute. Penalty! Zsolt Gál had in the 66thth minute some difficulties stopping Mátyás Csikós's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Viktor Zádori fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zsolt Gál having to interfere. After some careless play in the Diósgyőri VTK defense, Patrik Gyenes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zsolt Gál. The Diósgyőri VTK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zsolt Gál should have stopped the shot. After 78 minutes, Tibor Vass mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting Vasszentmihály and the Diósgyőri VTK players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 79th minute, Tibor Vass hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Viktor Zádori scored 3-0 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zsolt Gál, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Viktor Zádori hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. 89 minutes into the match, Kristóf Angyal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zsolt Gál. Diósgyőri VTK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kristóf Angyal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Csaba Nagy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristóf Angyal in the 96th minute of play forced Diósgyőri VTK's goalkeeper Zsolt Gál to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zsolt Gál came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting Vasszentmihály's Patrik Gyenes. But to his dismay, Patrik Gyenes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0.
