When Endre Csikós came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Hunyadi JFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Endre Csikós couldn't finish the play. After 19 minutes of play, Hunyadi JFC's Endre Csikós made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zsolt Gál was left in no man's land by his defense there! Szabolcs Gere struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Zsolt Gál didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hunyadi JFC. In the 35th minute, Szabolcs Gere ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zsolt Gál was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 41st match minute, Hunyadi JFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renátó Csordás to maneuver through the defense. Ákos Tóth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Csaba Nagy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dániel Tímár took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 49th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Zsolt Gál. Diósgyőri VTK's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Endre Csikós was the one to do the kick off. A hard shot 64 in the game by Endre Csikós from a close distance when the talented Zsolt Gál managed to make a qualified save. Diósgyőri VTK's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Csaba Nagy in the 66th minute of play forced Hunyadi JFC's goalkeeper Ákos Tóth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. During the 89th minute of the match Renátó Csordás completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Renátó Csordás a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Hunyadi JFC's Renátó Csordás got a free kick in the 89th minute. Szabolcs Gere received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Zsolt Gál tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hunyadi JFC's Szabolcs Gere managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Mihály Kulcsár in the 96 minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Szabolcs Gere managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hunyadi JFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Szabolcs Gere was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zsolt Gál breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Although Diósgyőri VTK had been in control for most of the match, Hunyadi JFC still came away with the win.
