The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes, Tamás Takács made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Újpest FC's Valentin Lustig tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 6th minute Ákos Sóti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Máté Havass saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Imre Dobos's late challenge caught a Újpest FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Imre Dobos helped the player get up and apologised. After 9 played minutes Átták got a freekick which was hit by Imre Dobos. When Gyula Szusza came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Újpest FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gyula Szusza couldn't finish the play. Tamás Takács's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valentin Lustig read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Tamás Takács had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valentin Lustig. Újpest FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tamás Takács was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Valentin Lustig stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tamás Takács's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Átták's goalkeeper Máté Havass, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Máté Havass made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gyula Szusza in the 25th minute. 27 minutes into the match, Újpest FC's goal looked a bit too open when Zoltán Lévai came free, but Valentin Lustig reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tamás Takács in the 31st minute of play forced Újpest FC's goalkeeper Valentin Lustig to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Átták were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Újpest FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Illés Virág took the corner. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tamás Takács to make the kick off. Rafael Keresztes hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zoltán Lipták in the 79th minute of play forced Átták's goalkeeper Máté Havass to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Újpest FC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Carlos Leitão hit a great ball. Újpest FC's Tamás Katona was substituted for Gyula Szusza. In the 81st match minute, Újpest FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Leitão to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tamás Takács in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Valentin Lustig saved Újpest FC from getting behind. 89 minutes into the game, Tamás Katona cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Máté Havass was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Valentin Lustig took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tamás Takács, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Máté Havass showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viktor Laczkó, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. After taking down the ball on Újpest FC's corner Zoltán Lipták fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Máté Havass quite easily take care of the ball. A well-hit corner resulted in József Nyúl heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The Újpest FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Átták's performance. The match ended with a win for Átták.
