In the 5th minute Dominik Szoboszlai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Károly Balogh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bánk Mónos in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yakut Bergin saved Vajka FC from getting behind. Szombathelyi HALADÁS's Károly Balogh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Attila Takács in the 17th minute of play. In the 20th minute Viktor Galambos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yakut Bergin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute, Balázs Veres left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Szombathelyi HALADÁS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Viktor Galambos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 41 minutes into the match, Szombathelyi HALADÁS's goal looked a bit too open when Attila Takács came free, but Károly Balogh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Giorgos Charisteas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vajka FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Giorgos Charisteas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Károly Balogh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dominik Szoboszlai could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Károly Balogh made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Dominik Szoboszlai kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Károly Balogh. That made the score 1-1 in the 47 minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The Szombathelyi HALADÁS fans' excitement grew in the 53rd match minute when Szombathelyi HALADÁS's Bánk Mónos looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Viktor Galambos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Yakut Bergin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 63 played minutes Szombathelyi HALADÁS got a freekick which was hit by Viktor Galambos. Károly Balogh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dominik Szoboszlai, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute Pál Túri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Károly Balogh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Attila Takács made a precise shot to the right of Károly Balogh. Szombathelyi HALADÁS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After 79 played minutes Szombathelyi HALADÁS got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Sócrates. Szombathelyi HALADÁS's Levente Takács was substituted for István Véber. Carlos Sócrates kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Yakut Bergin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Viktor Galambos went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score.
