An unexpectedly hard shot by Joško Konjevod in the 16th minute of play forced Grande Croatia's goalkeeper Gašpar Težak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Antonio Uzelac kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gašpar Težak. That made the score 1-0 in the 19 minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Rijeka's goal looked a bit too open when Dominik Bunić came free, but Nedjeljko Kocković reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pavel Težak received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gašpar Težak came out and tried to block the shot, but Pavel Težak slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 26th minute. A collision led to Rijeka getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Antonio Uzelac hit a great ball. Miroslav Giljević fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nedjeljko Kocković having to interfere. Gašpar Težak made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ivo Fabian in the 42nd minute. If Dominik Bunić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Grande Croatia's Gašpar Težak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pavel Težak in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miroslav Giljević was the one to do the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Pavel Težak had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gašpar Težak. Grande Croatia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pavel Težak was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Nebojša Dekanić charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nebojša Dekanić the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 61st match minute, Grande Croatia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nebojša Dekanić to maneuver through the defense. Bogumil Grocholski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 65 played minutes Grande Croatia got a freekick which was hit by Martin Vulinec. In the 67th match minute, Grande Croatia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Perica Junaković to maneuver through the defense. Antonio Uzelac sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Pavel Težak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 75th minute Joško Konjevod shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gašpar Težak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grande Croatia's Gašpar Težak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivo Fabian in the 77th minute of play. Pavel Težak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rijeka walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
