Petar Ferdić dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Petar Ferdić showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ibrica Čaplar in the 7th minute of the match. Petar Ferdić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ibrica Čaplar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ibrica Čaplar scored 0-2 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Petar Ferdić, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 13th match minute, NK Rječina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miomir Cerin to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Ivica Balaško left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Barun United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. A collision led to NK Rječina getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Miomir Cerin hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivica Balaško in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Petar Ferdić prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Barun United's Dionisio Mikolas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miomir Cerin in the 39th minute of play. In the 45th match minute, Barun United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ostoja Zgurić to maneuver through the defense. Miomir Cerin might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dionisio Mikolas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miomir Cerin ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Miomir Cerin to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of NK Rječina booed when Barun United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ibrica Čaplar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edi Odak charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edi Odak the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 72 played minutes NK Rječina got a freekick which was hit by Edi Odak. Ivica Balaško's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 77thth minute, Petar Ferdić skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 82nd minute Rene Dugec shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petar Ferdić saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Ibrica Čaplar reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Petar Ferdić. The goal made the score 0-7. 90 minutes had been played when some careless play by NK Rječina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ibrica Čaplar was slow to take the kick. During this time Barun United's players had a chance to rest. A collision led to Barun United getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ivica Balaško hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Barun United's Ivica Balaško got a free kick in the 94th minute. After some careless play in the NK Rječina defense, Radoslav Tukša kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Petar Ferdić. The NK Rječina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Petar Ferdić should have stopped the shot.
