After 14 minutes, Eugen Stolnik mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the NK Shpaolin and the Varteks players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 14th match minute, NK Shpaolin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugen Stolnik to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Florijan Dominković in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Radoslav Knezović prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Držimir Ledenko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Radoslav Knezović having to interfere. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Marko Reljić showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gradimir Kostanjevečki, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Radoslav Knezović didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Florijan Dominković went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Držimir Ledenko scored 0-4 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Radoslav Knezović, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dušan Gudelj fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marko Reljić having to interfere. When Držimir Ledenko came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Varteks fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Držimir Ledenko couldn't finish the play. Radoslav Knezović showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florijan Dominković in the 84th minute of the match. Varteks's Florijan Dominković got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The NK Shpaolin fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Varteks were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
