The audience was convinced that Romeo Lacotte's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frédéric Bréheret was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Rayan Morvan's late challenge caught a Girondin de Bordeaux's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rayan Morvan helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Girondin de Bordeaux booed when Beaulieu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rayan Morvan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Joël Lhôte cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jean-Pascal Poux was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jean-Pascal Poux made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Joël Lhôte sent off a good shot on target. Joël Lhôte came free with the goalkeeper in the 30th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jean-Pascal Poux could save by the left post. Frédéric Bréheret took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeo Lacotte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Romeo Lacotte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frédéric Bréheret having to interfere. Laurent Le Port struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Jean-Pascal Poux didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Beaulieu. When Laurent Le Port fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Beaulieu's protests and gave Laurent Le Port a yellow card for diving instead. If Romeo Lacotte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 47 minutes into the game, Rayan Morvan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jean-Pascal Poux. Rayan Morvan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Romeo Lacotte to make the kick off. Girondin de Bordeaux's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Beaulieu the free kick. Romeo Lacottes short, quick shot in the 92ndth minute got Frédéric Bréheret to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Eliott Louvet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Laurent Karcher kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match.
