The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Montières's zone, Fabrice Bégaud stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Combier came out of the goal and Fabrice Bégaud tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Béziers's Fabrice Bégaud got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Marco Guénin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 26 minutes, Clovis Cornier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Béziers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Clovis Cornier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Madjid Sévestre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Montières's zone, Clovis Cornier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Combier came out of the goal and Clovis Cornier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Philippe Bur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bob Gorse in the 38th minute of the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabrice Bégaud made a kick off. David Combier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Éthan May in the 54th minute. After having played for 68 minutes, Pierre-Louis Guermeur managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Béziers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pierre-Louis Guermeur was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Montières's David Combier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabrice Bégaud in the 69th minute of play. David Combier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabrice Bégaud in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute, Fabrice Bégaud got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Philippe Bur stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bob Gorse's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. In the 92nd minute, Bob Gorse left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montières fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Béziers's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
