Laurent Mauger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wilfried Branchu's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Noa Mouille fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurent Mauger having to interfere. Laurent Mauger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilfried Branchu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16thth minute of the game Wilfried Branchu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vernhole's Laurent Mauger was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 17th match minute, Vernhole was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrien Blas to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd match minute, Melun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Justin Stopyra to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Dylan De Araujo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

55 minutes into the match, Vernhole's goalkeeper Laurent Mauger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eymeric Wolff. A collision led to Melun getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Charles-Emmanuel Lorenzo hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Wilfried Branchu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Laurent Mauger was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Wilfried Branchu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-2 to the left of a surprised Laurent Mauger 82 minutes into the match. Melun played a much better game than Vernhole and deserved their victory. The Vernhole players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
