Spectators: 6703 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1703, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gaston Fontes kicked off to start the match. Pierre Ferrier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Petitpas having to interfere. Lilian Savalle came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Avignon's Maxence Lambert. But to his dismay, Maxence Lambert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After having played for 13 minutes, Gaston Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Avignon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gaston Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16th minute, Maxence Lambert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 17 played minutes Marcoussis got a freekick which was hit by Faouzi Marc. In the 18th minute Maxence Lambert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lilian Savalle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roger Daumas hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Gaston Fontes struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Lilian Savalle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avignon. Gaston Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Lilian Savalle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lilian Savalle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salim Merceron, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Pierre Ferrier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 40 minutes, Lenny Lesaffre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steven Couzinet kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. With his leg Benjamin Petitpas managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Marcoussis's Lenny Lesaffre fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Pierre Ferrier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Petitpas having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Lenny Lesaffre got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Avignon were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pierre Ferrier to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 60th minute, Lenny Lesaffre got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lenny Lesaffre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Petitpas having to interfere. A collision led to Avignon getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Firmin Chazeau hit a great ball. Marcoussis's Pierre Ferrier got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lenny Lesaffre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Petitpas having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Avignon's zone, Pierre Ferrier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamin Petitpas came out of the goal and Pierre Ferrier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benjamin Petitpas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lenny Lesaffre went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Ghislain Briffaut's late challenge caught a Marcoussis's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ghislain Briffaut helped the player get up and apologised. Just Le Provost walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post.
