Pierrick Poitevin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Igor Hauet in the 19th minute of the match. Pierrick Poitevin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Igor Hauet's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Alix Clavreul made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias Rénier in the 38th minute of play. In the 46th match minute, Bourghelles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jean-Charles Angibaud to maneuver through the defense. 47 minutes into the match, AS St-Etienne's Fernand Jacquemond broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal.

The wind increased when Igor Hauet made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 62 minutes, Mathias Rénier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AS St-Etienne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mathias Rénier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 62nd match minute, Bourghelles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daryl Crete to maneuver through the defense. Remi Batista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierrick Poitevin having to interfere. If Nicolas Fave had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the match, AS St-Etienne's Nicolas Fave sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alix Clavreul narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hamid Fanton kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Igor Hauet's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pierrick Poitevin was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. Remi Batista might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pierrick Poitevin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Remi Batista ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. AS St-Etienne had won after a very even match.
