The referee ignored Racing Club Lyon's protests and gave Adil Émery a yellow card for diving instead. Adil Émery hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Racing Club Lyon defense, Malik Berthaud kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mohamed-Ali Nicollet. The Racing Club Lyon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mohamed-Ali Nicollet should have stopped the shot. If Malik Berthaud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Brayer hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. During the 26th minute of the match Adil Émery completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Adil Émery a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of FootBallClub-Paris booed when Racing Club Lyon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adil Émery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramzy Deville fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mohamed-Ali Nicollet having to interfere. After 39th play minutes Malik Berthaud shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Mohamed-Ali Nicollet and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 43rd minute, Nicolas Manchon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mohamed-Ali Nicollet came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by FootBallClub-Paris's Stéphane Delfour. But to his dismay, Stéphane Delfour quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Malik Berthaud to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Malik Berthaud in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mohamed-Ali Nicollet saved Racing Club Lyon from getting behind. Cédric Pace recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Racing Club Lyon's Mohamed-Ali Nicollet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malik Berthaud in the 62nd minute of play. If Cédric Pace had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Malik Berthaud scored 6-0 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mohamed-Ali Nicollet, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Malik Berthaud might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mohamed-Ali Nicollet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Malik Berthaud ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club Lyon's zone, Cédric Pace stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mohamed-Ali Nicollet came out of the goal and Cédric Pace tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FootBallClub-Paris's Malik Berthaud got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Malik Berthaud received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Mohamed-Ali Nicollet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There was no doubt that FootBallClub-Paris were the better team. FootBallClub-Paris's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
