Merlin Noyon charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Merlin Noyon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Merlin Noyon hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. The supporters of Olympique Rémois booed when New York FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaud Bourgois didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clovis Cren, 21 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The New York FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hervé Leplat should have stopped the shot. After the first half Olympique Rémois were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Clovis Cren was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 92nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.
