But to his dismay, Jean-Marc Hayot quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 10 minutes into the match, Vivien Weill notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of OUS Cognac's Paul-Émile Gendrot. Paul-Émile Gendrot was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 14 minutes into the game, Arequipe's Jean-Marc Hayot nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paul-Émile Gendrot made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. A collision led to OUS Cognac getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Joachim Favreau hit a great ball. 21 minutes into the match, Jean-Marc Hayot notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of OUS Cognac's Paul-Émile Gendrot. Paul-Émile Gendrot was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Paul-Émile Gendrot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vivien Weill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jarod Hatte came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by OUS Cognac's Joachim Favreau. But to his dismay, Joachim Favreau quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. After a rather tough play, OUS Cognac's Joachim Favreau got a free kick in the 33rd minute. OUS Cognac's Paul-Émile Gendrot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vivien Weill in the 34th minute of play. The supporters of OUS Cognac booed when Arequipe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Théodore Dequidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. OUS Cognac's Paul-Émile Gendrot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vivien Weill in the 40th minute of play. After some careless play in the OUS Cognac defense, Camille Labbé kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paul-Émile Gendrot. The OUS Cognac fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paul-Émile Gendrot should have stopped the shot. Arequipe's Jarod Hatte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roland Parisi in the 47th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joachim Favreau to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Erwan Nectoux left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Arequipe fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Jean-Marc Hayot's late challenge caught a OUS Cognac's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jean-Marc Hayot helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Arequipe's Jean-Marc Hayot got a free kick in the 54th minute. With a little luck, OUS Cognac's Paul-Émile Gendrot got control of the ball when Vivien Weill tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Joachim Favreau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Joachim Favreau put it in 2-6 from a short distance just to the right of Jarod Hatte. 69 minutes into the game, Joachim Favreau was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. OUS Cognac's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Arequipe the free kick. A collision led to OUS Cognac getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. When the final whistle sounded Arequipe left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than OUS Cognac.
