If Aziz Sénéchal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 13 played minutes Stade de Reims got a freekick which was hit by Malik Coquelet. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Ernest Eynard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mondelange's supporters rose to their feet, but Ernest Eynard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roman Chassang breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roman Chassang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mohamed-Ali Duffaut in the 18th minute of the match. If Bruno Jule had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Mondelange fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Mondelange's Mohamed-Ali Duffaut looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 31st match minute, Stade de Reims was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Jule to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Stade de Reims's zone, Mohamed-Ali Duffaut stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roman Chassang came out of the goal and Mohamed-Ali Duffaut tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Patrice Rochereau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernest Eynard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Roman Chassang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Mondelange's zone, Aziz Sénéchal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denis Pignard came out of the goal and Aziz Sénéchal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Stade de Reims booed when Mondelange was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Boucher didn't get a good kick on the ball. Samy Dartiguelongue struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Denis Pignard didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stade de Reims. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Mohamed-Ali Duffaut made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Gildas Heck kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Roman Chassang. That made the score 1-2 in the 55 minute of play. Mohamed-Ali Duffaut could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Roman Chassang made a huge save. Mondelange's Mohamed-Ali Duffaut got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Aziz Sénéchal came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Stade de Reims fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aziz Sénéchal couldn't finish the play. Mohamed-Ali Duffaut didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-3 via right post in the game's 69th minute. Mondelange's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! If Mohamed-Ali Duffaut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Malik Coquelet hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Stade de Reims's Roman Chassang proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Stade de Reims from getting a goal against them. Aymerick Eudeline fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Chassang having to interfere. Patrice Rochereau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Roman Chassang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mohamed-Ali Duffaut, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Mondelange's Denis Pignard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Jule in the 96th minute of play. Denis Pignard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aziz Sénéchal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Mondelange could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Stade de Reims throughout the match.
