Jean-Paul Coroller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Daryl Jonquet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th match minute, Stade Rennais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by René Argentin to maneuver through the defense. Paul-Émile Mathelin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Ferrière in the 14th minute of the match. The supporters of US Montélimar booed when Stade Rennais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gameiro Leman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Noël Bessou succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 34th playminute. Robert Ferrière missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 57 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Paul-Émile Mathelin right hand side. Noël Bessou blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paul-Émile Mathelin having to make a save. Bérenger Duchâteau was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 61 minutes into the match. In the 62nd minute there was a penalty for US Montélimar. Noé Derville stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Paul-Émile Mathelin. 4-0. Jean-Paul Coroller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
