Ulysse Sonnet helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Stade Rennais booed when Durotar Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysse Sonnet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Everardo Silbestre was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Roger Brégeon capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Roger Brégeon really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. The audience was convinced that Jean-Paul Coroller's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Everardo Silbestre was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Ahmed Brousse recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ahmed Brousse might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paul-Émile Mathelin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ahmed Brousse ran back to his position shaking his head. Ahmed Brousse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul-Émile Mathelin having to interfere. Paul-Émile Mathelin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulysse Sonnet in the 38th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulysse Sonnet in the 44th minute of play forced Stade Rennais's goalkeeper Paul-Émile Mathelin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the game, Félicien Gibon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stade Rennais's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Durotar Football Club the free kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ulysse Sonnet to make the kick off. In the 60th minute, Durotar Football Club's Ahmed Brousse ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Paul-Émile Mathelin. Paul-Émile Mathelin yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. A collision led to Stade Rennais getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Jean-Paul Coroller hit a great ball. When Jean-Paul Coroller was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 77 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Stade Rennais's Jean-Paul Coroller got a free kick in the 78th minute. When Ahmed Brousse came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Durotar Football Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ahmed Brousse couldn't finish the play. Jules Delas charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jules Delas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 88 played minutes Durotar Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Jules Delas. Paul-Émile Mathelin made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Ahmed Brousse sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd minute Gameiro Leman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Everardo Silbestre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Ahmed Brousse notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Stade Rennais's Paul-Émile Mathelin. Paul-Émile Mathelin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
