RdU 1949 FC were furious when Just Joanny was red carded, 6 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. A collision led to RdU 1949 FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Just Joanny hit a great ball. When Youssef Stalin came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Stade Rennais fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Youssef Stalin couldn't finish the play. Prosper Gillard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean-Paul Coroller in the 9th minute of the match. Batiste Barbera recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Batiste Barbera in the 15th minute of play forced Stade Rennais's goalkeeper Paul-Émile Mathelin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Ryan Giry's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paul-Émile Mathelin was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. In the 24th minute Ryan Giry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul-Émile Mathelin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joffrey Petitpas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Paul-Émile Mathelin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to RdU 1949 FC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Igor Pucheu hit a great ball. Prosper Gillard was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Youssef Stalin. With an all-out effort, Stade Rennais's Prosper Gillard threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jean-Paul Coroller, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. RdU 1949 FC's Prosper Gillard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jean-Paul Coroller in the 33rd minute of play. In the 36th match minute, Stade Rennais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jean-Paul Coroller to maneuver through the defense. Stade Rennais's Paul-Émile Mathelin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joffrey Petitpas in the 38th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Joffrey Petitpas notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Stade Rennais's Paul-Émile Mathelin. Paul-Émile Mathelin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 45 played minutes RdU 1949 FC got a freekick which was hit by Dave Vasselin. Stade Rennais's Youssef Stalin shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 46th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Prosper Gillard but with some difficulty.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jean-Paul Coroller stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54thth minute of the game Ryan Giry who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stade Rennais's Paul-Émile Mathelin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ryan Giry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul-Émile Mathelin having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Ryan Giry hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joffrey Petitpas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Paul-Émile Mathelin made a huge save. Batiste Barbera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. In the 65th minute, Igor Pucheu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paul-Émile Mathelin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryan Giry in the 69th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 71 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Ryan Giry sped through Stade Rennais's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Paul-Émile Mathelin. 75 minutes into the game, Jean-Paul Coroller cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Prosper Gillard was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Paul-Émile Mathelin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ryan Giry's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Paul-Émile Mathelin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Batiste Barbera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yazid Saint-Paul's late challenge caught a RdU 1949 FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yazid Saint-Paul helped the player get up and apologised. In the 83rd match minute, Stade Rennais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yazid Saint-Paul to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th match minute, RdU 1949 FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dave Vasselin to maneuver through the defense. 93 minutes into the match, Stade Rennais's goalkeeper Paul-Émile Mathelin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joffrey Petitpas. After having played for 96 minutes, Ryan Giry managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RdU 1949 FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ryan Giry was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Stade Rennais fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. RdU 1949 FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
