After 8 played minutes Sorbiers 1908 F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Scheer. Robert Ferrière fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Schreiber having to interfere. The supporters of Sorbiers 1908 F.C. booed when US Montélimar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herbert Hurel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Noé Derville to make the kick off. When Boris Gourlay came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Sorbiers 1908 F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boris Gourlay couldn't finish the play. In the 56th minute, Noël Bessou hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 64 minutes into the game, US Montélimar's Noël Bessou nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Franklin Schreiber made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. In the 67th match minute, US Montélimar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgard Vialatte to maneuver through the defense. Billy Vautier hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Robert Ferrière kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Franklin Schreiber. That made the score 2-3 in the 72 minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 83 minutes into the game, when Billy Vautier put in a rough tackle. If Franklin Châtellier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stéphane Lemasson hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The US Montélimar supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing US Montélimar would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
