When Jean-Paul Coroller came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Stade Rennais fans jumped to their feet. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jean-Paul Coroller made a kick off. With a little luck, Stade Rennais's Paul-Émile Mathelin got control of the ball when Bas Wouters tried to sneak it across the goal line. Paul-Émile Mathelin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bas Wouters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Red Star F.C. booed when Stade Rennais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Limare didn't get a good kick on the ball. But to his dismay, Gameiro Leman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. Stade Rennais were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
