Roman Chassang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Batiste Barbera, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 19th minute Batiste Barbera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Chassang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samy Dartiguelongue in the 20th minute of play forced RdU 1949 FC's goalkeeper Prosper Gillard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute, Batiste Barbera ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roman Chassang was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 28 minutes, Bruce Thizy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the RdU 1949 FC and the Stade de Reims players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Stade de Reims booed when RdU 1949 FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruce Thizy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 31 minutes, Mourad Bonin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RdU 1949 FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mourad Bonin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mourad Bonins short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Roman Chassang to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Igor Pucheu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Chassang having to interfere. Roman Chassang was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Mourad Bonin capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Mourad Bonin really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. With a little luck, Stade de Reims's Roman Chassang got control of the ball when Mourad Bonin tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 46th minute Batiste Barbera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Chassang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. RdU 1949 FC's Gilbert Protin got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mourad Bonin to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Stade de Reims's Malik Coquelet got a free kick in the 51st minute. Batiste Barbera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Chassang having to interfere. Mourad Bonin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Stade de Reims's zone, Joffrey Petitpas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roman Chassang came out of the goal and Joffrey Petitpas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roman Chassang stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mourad Bonin's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Roman Chassang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mourad Bonin, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. 77 minutes into the match, Stade de Reims's goal looked a bit too open when Batiste Barbera came free, but Roman Chassang reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the game, Didier Frèret was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stade de Reims's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave RdU 1949 FC the free kick. After 90 minutes of play, RdU 1949 FC's Batiste Barbera made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roman Chassang was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marcel Schindler hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. In the 95th minute Adam Liabeuf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Chassang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 97 minutes, Mourad Bonin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RdU 1949 FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mourad Bonin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee ended the match the RdU 1949 FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
