After 14 played minutes OLD PUNX NEVER DIE got a freekick which was hit by Zinedine Blonde. In the 17th minute, Stade Rennais's Félicien Gibon ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Lala Lala. Lala Lala yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. In the 20th minute, Gameiro Leman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thibault Amy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul-Émile Mathelin having to interfere. Thibault Amy kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. René Argentin succeeded in the game's 26th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-0. In the 32nd minute, Thibault Amy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The throw-in from Félicien Gibon in the 39th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by OLD PUNX NEVER DIE's Gérald Salvador. After a defensive mix-up in Stade Rennais's zone, Thibault Amy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul-Émile Mathelin came out of the goal and Thibault Amy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lala Lala made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gameiro Leman in the 46th minute. OLD PUNX NEVER DIE's Lala Lala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by René Argentin in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jean-Paul Coroller was the one to do the kick off. OLD PUNX NEVER DIE's Lala Lala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by René Argentin in the 52nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute of the match, Thibault Amy got a very nice opportunity to score, but Paul-Émile Mathelin was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Youssef Stalin fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stade Rennais's protests and gave Youssef Stalin a yellow card for diving instead. In the 67th match minute, Stade Rennais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jean-Paul Coroller to maneuver through the defense. 68 minutes into the match, Stade Rennais's goalkeeper Paul-Émile Mathelin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thibault Amy. The Stade Rennais fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. René Argentin scored 5-0 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lala Lala, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 85 played minutes OLD PUNX NEVER DIE got a freekick which was hit by Steven Saladin. After 86 played minutes, Stade Rennais's Youssef Stalin shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lala Lala came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Stade Rennais reached it. Lala Lala made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gameiro Leman in the 90th minute of play. The supporters of Stade Rennais booed when OLD PUNX NEVER DIE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thibault Amy didn't get a good kick on the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Félicien Gibon in the 95th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by OLD PUNX NEVER DIE's César Tourneux.
