Franck Cabrol fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Baptiste Foure having to interfere. Eden Serra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benoît Patry in the 8th minute of the match. When Patrick Merville fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merchâteau's protests and gave Patrick Merville a yellow card for diving instead. Merchâteau's Eden Serra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Merchâteau from getting a goal against them. 20 minutes into the match, Franck Cabrol had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jean-Baptiste Foure. Anstaing's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Franck Cabrol was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Jean-Baptiste Foure showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xavier Bessin, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Merchâteau reached it. In the 36th minute, Enzo Dupoux hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean-Baptiste Foure took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cyrille Raimbault, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cyrille Raimbault took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jean-Baptiste Foure. Jean-Baptiste Foure dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 45 minutes into the match, Anstaing's goal looked a bit too open when Camille Marchive came free, but Jean-Baptiste Foure reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute Franck Cabrol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Baptiste Foure saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Merchâteau were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benoît Patry was the one to do the kick off. Anstaing's defense didn't have a chance, in the 52nd minute, when Xavier Bessin scored to the left of an out of position Jean-Baptiste Foure, making the score, 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillaume Helbert in the 56th minute of play forced Merchâteau's goalkeeper Eden Serra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 58th minute Cyrille Raimbault shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Baptiste Foure saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 59th minute Benoît Patry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eden Serra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, Merchâteau's Franck Cabrol nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jean-Baptiste Foure made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Jean-Baptiste Foure made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cyrille Raimbault in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Anstaing was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benoît Patry to maneuver through the defense. With 71 minutes on the clock, Eraldo Piccinini commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. When the match had been going on for 72 minutes, Merchâteau's Cyrille Raimbault got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jean-Baptiste Foure. Anstaing's Jean-Baptiste Foure proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Anstaing from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jean-Marie Blavette in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eden Serra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Merchâteau's Cyrille Raimbault slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jean-Baptiste Foure. That made the score 0-7 after 84 minutes of play. Enzo Dupoux hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Merchâteau's Florent Carret slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jean-Baptiste Foure. That made the score 0-8 after 96 minutes of play. The Anstaing fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Merchâteau were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
