The supporters of Nilvange booed when LPN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Youri Kerhoas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aziz Gibier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jason Cornilleau read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Émile Ferrant kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. LPN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nilvange the free kick. After the first half LPN were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
An unexpectedly hard shot by Teddy Davesne in the 52nd minute of play forced LPN's goalkeeper Jason Cornilleau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Teddy Davesne's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jason Cornilleau was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. If Teddy Davesne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 58 minutes into the match, Teddy Davesne had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jason Cornilleau. LPN's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Teddy Davesne was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Christian Mottet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Nicolas Tellier made a huge save. Nicolas Tellier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jean-Pascal Raffin, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. 65 minutes into the match, Nilvange's goal looked a bit too open when Jean-Pascal Raffin came free, but Nicolas Tellier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicolas Tellier made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Christian Mottet sent off a good shot on target. Christian Mottet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Nicolas Tellier made a huge save. In the 75th minute, Teddy Davesne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 89th minute, Jean-Pascal Raffin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nicolas Tellier. The goal made the score 1-4. 95 minutes into the game, Christian Mottet cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Nicolas Tellier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The LPN supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing LPN would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
