In the 12th minute Aziz Gibier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alou Bonjean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, Hocine Chazal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sochaux's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nilvange the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sochaux's Hocine Chazal got a free kick in the 15th minute. Anatole Jolivet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alou Bonjean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolas Tellier in the 17th minute of the match. Alou Bonjean made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Tellier in the 18th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Sochaux was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Théophile Le Roy to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Sochaux's Jean-Yves Doisy slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Felix Azam. That made the score 1-1 after 26 minutes of play. Alou Bonjean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aziz Gibier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute Hocine Chazal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Felix Azam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sochaux's Alou Bonjean played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Tellier in the 44th minute of play. The wind increased when Aziz Gibier made the kick off in the second half. Nilvange's Jean-Philippe Castan suffered a concussion after 52 minutes and had to leave the field. Nilvange's Réda Fleureau was substituted for Jean-Philippe Castan. In the 55th minute, Hocine Chazal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Nilvange defense, Jean-Yves Doisy kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felix Azam. The Nilvange fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Azam should have stopped the shot. Felix Azam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jean-Yves Doisy, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 64th minute Aziz Gibier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alou Bonjean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 66th minute, Aziz Gibier reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alou Bonjean. The goal made the score 2-3. 70 minutes into the match, Sochaux's goalkeeper Alou Bonjean had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aziz Gibier. In the 73rd minute, Aziz Gibier left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nilvange fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. Alou Bonjean made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Tellier in the 79th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Sochaux's Théophile Le Roy seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Théophile Le Roy the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Sochaux protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Théophile Le Roy had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 80th match minute, Sochaux was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Théophile Le Roy to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anatole Jolivet in the 81st minute of play forced Sochaux's goalkeeper Alou Bonjean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Charles Baudoin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Alou Bonjean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 84 minutes, Tom Ferrand mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sochaux and the Nilvange players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tom Ferrand kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Nilvange's Charles Baudoin quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Batiste Oliveira, made in the 86th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles Baudoin in the 87th minute of play forced Sochaux's goalkeeper Alou Bonjean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alou Bonjean made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Aziz Gibier sent off a good shot on target. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Nilvange's goalkeeper Felix Azam, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Sochaux's Alou Bonjean got control of the ball when Anatole Jolivet tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Nicolas Tellier came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Nilvange fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolas Tellier couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded Nilvange left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sochaux.
