Atli Thomassen might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sigurd Jónsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Atli Thomassen ran back to his position shaking his head. Sigurd Jónsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nenad Mikkelsen's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. Atli Thomassen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Sigurd Jónsson made a huge save. Nenad Samuelsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronnie Anghel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nenad Samuelsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronnie Anghel in the 20th minute of the match. After 30 played minutes, Hunslet's Jóhan Højsted shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nenad Samuelsen came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hunslet reached it. When Atli Thomassen came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Húsavík ÍF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Atli Thomassen couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute, Hannis Olsen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Atli Thomassen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jens Heri Dam was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nenad Mikkelsen in the 52nd minute of play forced Hunslet's goalkeeper Sigurd Jónsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 53 minutes, Atli Thomassen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Húsavík ÍF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Atli Thomassen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Hunslet defense, Nenad Mikkelsen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sigurd Jónsson. The Hunslet fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sigurd Jónsson should have stopped the shot. Sigurd Jónsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nenad Mikkelsen in the 65th minute of play. Nenad Samuelsen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jens Heri Dam's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Andrias Jacobsen kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Hunslet's Jens Heri Dam dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jens Heri Dam in the 73rd minute of play forced Húsavík ÍF's goalkeeper Nenad Samuelsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 83 minutes, Andrias Jacobsen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Húsavík ÍF and the Hunslet players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 83 played minutes Húsavík ÍF got a freekick which was hit by Andrias Jacobsen. 88 minutes into the game, Húsavík ÍF's Nenad Mikkelsen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sigurd Jónsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jens Heri Dam in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nenad Samuelsen saved Húsavík ÍF from getting behind. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hunslet players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Húsavík ÍF.
