SSC Napoli's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manchester United the free kick. In the 17th minute, Norino Cifuentes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ireno Canyelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nastasio Tobias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Eleuterio Menendez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 33 minutes into the game, Ireno Canyelles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Emilio Aceves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Loren Santander scored 3-0 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emilio Aceves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Chano Ortega hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 44 minutes in the game Constantino Alcalde got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal. The supporters of Manchester United booed when SSC Napoli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Min Perez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Constantino Alcalde took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 46th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Emilio Aceves. SSC Napoli's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nastasio Tobias to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Manchester United getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Loren Santander hit a great ball. Emilio Aceves didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Loren Santander went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Emilio Aceves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olaf Plaski in the 57th minute of the match. Olaf Plaski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 72 minutes, Nastasio Tobias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SSC Napoli's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nastasio Tobias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 75th minute, Ireno Canyelles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hipolito Montero charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hipolito Montero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Emilio Aceves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ireno Canyelles, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olaf Plaski in the 85th minute of play forced SSC Napoli's goalkeeper Emilio Aceves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 86 minutes of play, Manchester United's Olaf Plaski made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emilio Aceves was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Loren Santander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester United's supporters rose to their feet, but Loren Santander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emilio Aceves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. SSC Napoli's Nastasio Tobias got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manchester United walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
