Gerardo Checa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Placido Reina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gerardo Checa struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Placido Reina didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U.E. Esplugues de Ll.. El Calonge CF's Placido Reina played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Urko Carballeira in the 9th minute of play. Placido Reina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Urko Carballeira in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Checa in the 14th minute of play forced El Calonge CF's goalkeeper Placido Reina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gerardo Checa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to U.E. Esplugues de Ll. getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Gerardo Checa hit a great ball. Gerardo Checa took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Placido Reina. Placido Reina dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in El Calonge CF's zone, Urko Carballeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Placido Reina came out of the goal and Urko Carballeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The U.E. Esplugues de Ll. fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when U.E. Esplugues de Ll.'s Gerardo Checa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Urko Carballeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Placido Reina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Urko Carballeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerardo Checa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Urko Carballeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Urko Carballeira spun around in front of the goal 55 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of El Calonge CF's goal. Gerardo Checa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Placido Reina came out and tried to block the shot, but Gerardo Checa slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 57th minute. In the 63rd minute, Urko Carballeira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Placido Reina was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. U.E. Esplugues de Ll.'s Urko Carballeira got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Checa in the 72nd minute of play forced El Calonge CF's goalkeeper Placido Reina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as U.E. Esplugues de Ll.'s Gerardo Checa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Placido Reina. That made the score 0-5 after 80 minutes of play. Manuel Alfaro's late challenge caught a El Calonge CF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Alfaro helped the player get up and apologised. Gerardo Checa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Urko Carballeira took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Placido Reina. Placido Reina dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. U.E. Esplugues de Ll.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
