After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Julio Quintana managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hospitalet del Infant's supporters rose to their feet, but Julio Quintana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mino Antunez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When FC Hospitalet del Infant's Julio Quintana in 16 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Mino Antunez guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Arnalt Murcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mino Antunez having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Angelino Coello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Koldo Aranzubia. FC Hospitalet del Infant's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Angelino Coello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 33rd minute Julio Quintana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mino Antunez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Argoitz Camara in the 43rd minute of play forced FC Hospitalet del Infant's goalkeeper Koldo Aranzubia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute Argoitz Camara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Koldo Aranzubia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Frisco Blanco took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Koldo Aranzubia. Koldo Aranzubia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Koldo Aranzubia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angelino Coello in the 58th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 59th minute by Julio Quintana got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Arnalt Murcia might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mino Antunez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arnalt Murcia ran back to his position shaking his head. Koldo Aranzubia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Argoitz Camara, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After some careless play in the FC Hospitalet del Infant defense, Argoitz Camara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Koldo Aranzubia. The FC Hospitalet del Infant fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Koldo Aranzubia should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Angelino Coello's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Koldo Aranzubia was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Koldo Aranzubia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paco Dorado in the 79th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, FC Hospitalet del Infant's goal looked a bit too open when Argoitz Camara came free, but Koldo Aranzubia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 82 minutes into the game, Nagoi Castelao was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manel Echeto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Koldo Aranzubia. FC Hospitalet del Infant's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sestao were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
