Chico Ponte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cecilio Prieto in the 9th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cervas UD's zone, Reinaldo Abellan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chico Ponte came out of the goal and Reinaldo Abellan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th match minute, Cervas UD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oier Justo to maneuver through the defense. Reinaldo Abellan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chico Ponte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cecilio Prieto in the 19th minute of play. Cecilio Prieto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Chico Ponte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cecilio Prieto, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 34th minute Cecilio Prieto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chico Ponte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Cervas UD booed when Massamagrell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franco Griful didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manuel Izaguirre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Clodoveo Santos in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Geronimo Balboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Clodoveo Santos struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Geronimo Balboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cervas UD. If Reinaldo Abellan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manuel Izaguirre was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cecilio Prieto in the 52nd minute of play forced Cervas UD's goalkeeper Chico Ponte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
