After 10 played minutes U.D. PÍO PIO got a freekick which was hit by Baldomero Campoamor. Mergildo Esteban fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arturo Litago having to interfere. Regis Quintas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd match minute, U.D. PÍO PIO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baldomero Campoamor to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Sobas CF booed when U.D. PÍO PIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calisto Puyol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arturo Litago came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by U.D. PÍO PIO's Mergildo Esteban. But to his dismay, Mergildo Esteban quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antero Vazquez in the 36th minute of play forced U.D. PÍO PIO's goalkeeper Presebal Aizpurua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tohias Camino kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U.D. PÍO PIO's Calisto Puyol got a free kick in the 39th minute. If Regis Quintas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The audience was convinced that Regis Quintas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Presebal Aizpurua was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. A collision led to U.D. PÍO PIO getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Marco Montaña hit a great ball. Valentín Puyol didn't quite understand what happened when in the 60 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Antero Vazquez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Presebal Aizpurua read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Arturo Litago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mergildo Esteban in the 65th minute of play. Lia Morientes kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. After having played for 73 minutes, Mergildo Esteban managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U.D. PÍO PIO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mergildo Esteban was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Reimundo Parra kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Mergildo Esteban recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When U.D. PÍO PIO's Mergildo Esteban in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sobas CF's goalie prevented a goal. If Venceslás Vazquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mergildo Esteban hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Sobas CF's Regis Quintas got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 93 minutes into the match, Sobas CF's goalkeeper Arturo Litago had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mergildo Esteban. Venceslás Vazquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Arturo Litago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The U.D. PÍO PIO supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing U.D. PÍO PIO would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
