The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Balaguer booed when Caldelas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ginés Nafría didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Balaguer's Anacleto Navas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Playo Diez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leal Soldado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. If Playo Diez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the match, Berriotxoa Balcells had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Isauro Lopez de Toro. Caldelas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Berriotxoa Balcells was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After the first half Balaguer were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Berriotxoa Balcells stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Santi Baños in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Isauro Lopez de Toro saved Caldelas from getting behind. Balaguer's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
