Imanol Babia's late challenge caught a Racing Club Portuense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Imanol Babia helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Athletic Barcelona getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Imanol Babia hit a great ball. Iratxo Ladra charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Galo Ladra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xalbador Naranjo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Galo Ladra came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Racing Club Portuense's Felipe Vacas. But to his dismay, Felipe Vacas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Toño Quintanilla took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for 邵俊震 to make any attempt to save it. In the 75th minute Pancho Iniesta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Galo Ladra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 78 minutes of play, Racing Club Portuense's Felipe Vacas made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. There was no doubt that Racing Club Portuense were the better team. Racing Club Portuense's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
