Mesillas CF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cesareo Llinares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Depeche Mode C.F.'s Indar Abajas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berdaitz Olmedo in the 42nd minute of play. After 43 played minutes Mesillas CF got a freekick which was hit by Cesareo Llinares. Berdaitz Olmedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Indar Abajas having to interfere.

When Cesareo Llinares came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Mesillas CF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cesareo Llinares couldn't finish the play. 56 minutes into the match, Depeche Mode C.F.'s goalkeeper Indar Abajas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cesareo Llinares. In the 57th minute Berdaitz Olmedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Indar Abajas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Mesillas CF's Berdaitz Olmedo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Indar Abajas. That made the score 0-3 after 75 minutes of play. Mesillas CF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Depeche Mode C.F. the free kick. The supporters of Depeche Mode C.F. booed when Mesillas CF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentín Velazquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Mesillas CF could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Depeche Mode C.F. throughout the match.
